Questions & Answers

How far in advance should I book a photography session?

We recommend booking at least 4-6 weeks in advance for portrait sessions and 6-12 months for weddings and major events. Our schedule fills up quickly, especially during peak season (October-March in New Zealand). However, we do understand that some sessions are needed with shorter notice, so please contact us if you have an urgent request, and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

What should I wear for my portrait session?

For portraits, we recommend wearing solid colors or subtle patterns that complement each other if it's a group session. Avoid large logos, bright neon colors, or busy patterns that can be distracting. Layered clothing and accessories add dimension to your photos. Most importantly, choose outfits that make you feel comfortable and confident. After booking, we'll send you a detailed preparation guide with specific recommendations based on your session type.

How long until I receive my photos?

Our standard delivery timeframe is 2-3 weeks for portrait sessions and 4-6 weeks for weddings and larger events. Each image is individually edited to ensure the highest quality. You'll receive an online gallery link with all your edited images where you can download the high-resolution files, share with friends and family, and order prints directly. For commercial clients, we offer expedited delivery options if needed.

What happens if it rains on my outdoor session date?

New Zealand weather can be unpredictable! If it rains on your scheduled outdoor session, we'll reschedule at no additional cost. We typically make this decision 24-48 hours before the session based on weather forecasts, but sometimes we may need to make a last-minute call. This is why we always recommend having some flexibility around your scheduled date. For events that cannot be rescheduled, we have indoor backup options or can work with covered outdoor locations.

Do you provide the raw, unedited images?

We do not provide raw, unedited images as part of our services. The editing process is an essential part of our professional workflow and artistic style. The images you receive have been carefully selected and edited to meet our quality standards. Each package includes a specific number of edited digital images, and we ensure that you receive enough variety to capture the essence of your session or event.

What areas around Cambridge, NZ do you service?

While we're based in Cambridge, we provide photography services throughout the Waikato region, including Hamilton, Te Awamutu, Matamata, and Morrinsville without any travel fees. For locations beyond these areas, including Auckland, Tauranga, Rotorua, and Taupo, a travel fee may apply depending on the distance. For destination weddings or commercial shoots elsewhere in New Zealand, please contact us for a custom quote that includes travel arrangements.

How do I book a session?

Booking a session is simple! Start by contacting us through our contact form or by phone to check availability and discuss your photography needs. Once we've confirmed a date and package, we'll send you a booking agreement and invoice for a 30% deposit to secure your date. The remaining balance is due one week before the session. After booking, we'll provide you with all the information you need to prepare for your photography experience.

What photography equipment do you use?

We use professional-grade Canon and Sony mirrorless camera systems with a variety of premium lenses to ensure exceptional image quality in any lighting situation. Our gear includes backup cameras and lenses at every shoot, professional lighting equipment, and the latest image editing software. We continuously invest in the best equipment and stay updated with the latest photography technology to deliver outstanding results for our clients.

Do you offer prints and albums?

Yes, we offer a range of high-quality printing options including fine art prints, canvas wraps, metal prints, and framed photographs. We also create custom-designed albums using archival-quality materials that will last for generations. While all our packages include digital files, we strongly believe in the value of printed photographs and would be happy to discuss these options during your consultation or after you've received your digital gallery.

What's your payment and cancellation policy?

We require a 30% non-refundable deposit to secure your booking, with the remaining balance due one week before your session. For cancellations made more than 30 days before the session, you can apply your deposit to a rescheduled date within 6 months. Cancellations within 30 days forfeit the deposit. If we need to cancel due to illness or emergency, we'll reschedule at no additional cost or provide a full refund. Detailed payment and cancellation policies are outlined in our booking agreement.

Photography Tips From Our Experts

Perfect Timing

Schedule outdoor sessions during the "golden hour"—the hour after sunrise or before sunset—for the most flattering natural light.

Coordinate Outfits

For group photos, coordinate your outfits without matching exactly. Choose complementary colors in the same tone family.

Stay Relaxed

The best photos happen when you're comfortable. Trust your photographer and focus on enjoying the moment rather than posing perfectly.
